MEGA Ministry Camp
MEGA Ministry Camp Fits Into Your Plans!
Here are just a few ways you’ll use MMC in your church:
• VBS alternative
• Summer midweek program
• Community Outreach
• Special Sunday morning ministry emphasis
• After-school program
• Back-to-school blow out
• Spring Break
The possibilities are virtually endless because MEGA Ministry Camp is designed to be flexible for you. Your MEGA Ministry Camp Kit has everything you need.
A Day In MEGA Ministry Camp
Each MEGA Ministry Camp session breaks down into five exciting segments as follows:
Take Off: Everyone starts together with energizing music, a fun HighPoint Challenge,
and a laugh-filled visit from the Crazy Character who has a lot to learn about
ministry! These all set the stage for discovering what God’s Word has to say about serving others.
Hub Time: Kids meet in small groups to talk
about what the Crazy Character needs to
learn about ministry. (It’s also a great time
for kids to connect with their Tour Guide and with other kids.)
Life & Ministry Skills: Kids spend at least
one session each day “trying on” the skill
they’ve chosen. With hands-on activities, kids
learn something they can share with others.
Best of all, the skills have been field-tested so
you can be sure your kids will succeed. Just follow the Life & Ministry skills plans in the Life & Ministry Skill Guides.
Connecting Flights: The fun continues with
activities that reinforce the ministry theme,
Life Verse, and travel destination. Just follow
the Connecting Flight Plans in the HighPoint
Session Guide.
Landing: In Landing, MEGA Ministry Camp
anchors all the active learning with the “why”
from God’s Word. Kids participate in an
interactive Bible story that helps them
discover why ministering to others is so important.
MMC is flexible. You can flex MMC to fit your time and the layout of your building. A basic schedule looks something like this:
What About Volunteers?
Let’s face it. Everybody’s busy. That’s why MEGA Ministry Camp provides every instruction for every volunteer, including what to say and when to say it. And it’s flexible so volunteers can do just what they feel comfortable doing.
If they’re great with kids but don’t like teaching in front of a large group, they’re Tour Guides. If they love acting goofy, they’re your dressed-up character, Dr. Quirky. If they like leading activities, they’re Connecting Flight and Life & Ministry Skills leaders.
Your Life & Ministry Skills volunteers may not have time to plan out five perfectly timed sessions (that’s where we come in), but they DO have the one thing we can’t put in your MEGA Ministry Camp kit. A skill or ability they are willing to pass on to others as they serve and glorify God. That’s exactly what your kids will discover through MEGA Ministry Camp.
MEGA Ministry Camp is designed to be flexible for use in big and small churches.
The Director Guide provides schedules for longer and shorter sessions according to your needs and even shows you how to spread out the camp to 10 days.
What’s the minimum number of volunteers needed?
If you have a group of less than 8 kids, you will need just four volunteers:
1. Director / Pilot
2. Connecting Flight Coordinator / Life & Ministry Skills Coach
3. Crazy Character
4. Tour Guide
Your MEGA Ministry Camp Team
Director: You’re in charge! But don’t worry.
Choosing the right team to host MEGA Ministry
Camp is a lot easier than you might think.
The Director Guide takes the stress out of prep.
WHO YOU ARE: Someone who loves both kids and adults, is super-excited about getting kids involved in ministry, and is gifted in leadership and organization.
WHEN YOU’RE IN CHARGE: All the time.
PREP: Planning, shopping, recruiting.
Pilot: You’re in charge of large group times like
Takeoff and Landing. But don’t worry.
The Session Guide makes your job a snap.
All your lesson plans are found in the HighPoint Session Guide.
WHO YOU ARE: Someone who loves kids, is super-excited about getting kids involved in ministry, and can tell stories in front of large groups. You’ll also lead music with actions, so if that’s not your strength, recruit someone to help you as a Music Coach.
PREP: Preparing to lead Takeoff and Landing, practicing object lessons and Bible stories, locating and preparing object lesson and Bible story props as delegated by the Director.
Connecting Flight Coordinators: Connecting
Flight Coordinators lead kids in art, snacks,
crafts, and games. During Sessions 1–4, Coordinators will lead an activity-filled Connecting Flight to reinforce ministry, the Life Verse, or the dream-trip destination.
WHO TO LOOK FOR: People who enjoy sharing their talents with kids—Pilot, Tour Guides, Coaches, and other adults. Great entry point for new volunteers!
PREP: Depending on activities, about 10–30 minutes of prep per session.
Life & Ministry Skills Coaches: Coaches will
be in charge of five Life & Ministry Skill
segments of MEGA Ministry Camp. They help get kids involved in ministry. They follow the simple instructions in the Life & Ministry Skills Guides for activities their kids can do.
WHO TO LOOK FOR: Someone who enjoys the skill as a hobby or is willing to discover it along with the kids—moms, dads, students, one of the Tour Guides...
TIP! Great entry point for new volunteers!
PREP: Follow the easy steps in the Life & Ministry Skills Guide.
Crazy Character: The Crazy Character will
deliver five laugh-filled minutes every
session. But more than being a fellow visitor
to the dream destination, he’ll bring heart-changing truths to real-life situations . . . well, almost real anyway.
WHO TO LOOK FOR: Someone who will throw themselves into the role—moms, dads, students, one of the Tour Guides, older kids . . .
TIP! Great entry point for new volunteers!
PREP: Finding a costume (suggestions included) and reading the script once or twice. No memorization required!
MINIMUM COMMITMENT: 5 sessions (1 unit)
Tour Guide: Every Hub Group (5–8 kids)
needs a Tour Guide. These can be you, the
Life & Ministry Skills Coaches, and people
filling other positions. OR, this is a great spot to include youth, grandparents, and others who will help the kids have a great time. Almost no preparation time is required for this role!
Tour Guides build relationships, so they’ll go everywhere with the kids in their Hub Group. They’ll lead Hub Time, but it’s a snap with the easy-to-follow Hub Time Itineraries.
WHO TO LOOK FOR: Friendly, warm people who genuinely love kids and like to build relationships with others—moms, dads, grandparents, students.
PREP: Read each session’s Hub Time Itinerary a couple of times
